J: Or Tuesdays, or any days are guaranteed to be lousy days for our dad. The bad weather takes away his ability to get out and walk. On an average day he spends at least an hour or two outside walking the 'hood. Whether walking from his house to mine or walking around the block, walking gives him a sense of freedom and independence.
Today is a rainy day. I haven't checked on him yet, but when I do I know what I'll find. He will be walking from window to window, looking out each to see if it's raining on that side of the house. When he sees that the rain is pretty much all around him, he'll turn and look at whoever is in the room with a questioning stare as if that person can explain the weather. The pacing will continue unabated until the rain lets up. Thank God for indoor tracks. And, of course, thank God for Dortmunder.
